Examples of written methods for number operations, phase 1-3
This resource provides examples of written methods that could be taught to different year levels within phases 1-3. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of written methods.
Note that there is no single written method that works best for all students.
Teachers use representations to develop the logic of the operation and encourage students to estimate before using the written method.
