Junior Journal is an instructional reading series for year 3 students who are working at early level 2 in the New Zealand Curriculum.
About this resource
This page describes Junior Journal, a Ministry of Education publication primarily for year 3 students preparing to move to the School Journal series.
Junior Journal – Series introduction
Junior Journal supports students to make the transition from early instructional readers to the miscellany format of the School Journal. Each issue is aligned to level 2 of The New Zealand Curriculum.
Texts in Junior Journal have fewer illustrations than early readers and denser text layouts to prepare students for reading longer texts. Junior Journal builds on students’ previous learning and provides opportunities to learn across the curriculum.
