Ready to Read Phonics Plus – Tupu 1
Tupu 1 is the first of the two subgroups within the Tupu | Seedling phase of learning in the Ready to Read Phonics Plus series. When students reach the end of Tupu 1, they move into Tupu 2.
Tupu | Seedling texts are designed to build on the foundational reading skills taught in the Kākano | Seed phase including:
- Decoding (segmenting and blending) common phonetically regular words, expanding from the CVC spelling pattern in Kākano | Seed, to the CCVC and CVCC spelling patterns.
- Comprehension strategies, with children now having opportunities to make connections with characters and storylines from previous books.
- Developing oral language and vocabulary skills around a story.
Tupu 1 details
