About this resource
These material masters support teaching and learning about number structure.
Learning about number structure
In Phase 1 students learn to subitise and estimate the number of items in a group.
They also learn to count, compare and order numbers and to partition and regroup numbers.
In Phase 2 students extend this learning to larger numbers and start to identify factors and square numbers.
This learning is developed in Phase 3 as students use exponents and find highest common factors and lowest common multiples of two numbers.
These material masters can be used by teachers to support learning about number structure. They include templates for place value activities, such as place value houses, discs and arrow cards.
Also included are tens frames, 100s boards and number lines.
These material masters are referred to in the ‘Teaching considerations’ section of the teaching sequences for Years 0-8.
