Yes. Additional teacher resources, and student resources for new enrolments can be ordered online via Down the Back of the Chair when ordering opens on 10 February 2025. 

The Down the Back of the Chair team may get in touch if any large orders are placed, to confirm these are only for enrolled students who have not yet received resources. This is to ensure that we have stock for all students to access maths resources.

Please contact Down the Back of the Chair if you need to make any changes to your order.

The order form will be pre-populated with roll data from your school. This will be used to determine the quantity of resources that will be supplied. The values in the Student Count column are fixed - they cannot be changed - and show the number of students anticipated for each year level in 2025. If you need to modify the student count, please submit the application, then contact us at [email protected] to request any changes.

Teacher resources are part of the package from each supplier. See the suppliers’ webpages for details. (You can find the suppliers at: Ordering Ministry-funded maths resources.) 

The Ministry is only able to fund resources for teachers based on the Teacher Count for each school. If you need to modify the teacher counts beyond the current limit, please submit the application, then contact us at [email protected] to request the changes.

There may be limited availability of the resources available from each supplier initially. If a school’s order can’t be fulfilled, a Ministry of Education staff member will be in touch to discuss options. Part of the order may be delayed, or an alternative supplier may need to be selected.

The Ministry has developed a series of questions, prompts and activities that you could use to help you with your decision. These could be used as part of a Teacher Only Day or Staff Meeting. They are available on Tāhūrangi at: Ordering Ministry-funded maths resources. 

Yes, you can order maths resources from different suppliers for the different phases of learning. The phases of learning are Phase 1: Years 0-3, Phase 2: Years 4-6 and Phase 3: Years 7-8. 

In this first round of ordering resources school will be able to order a ‘package’ of resources per learning phase. We anticipate schools and teachers may swap resources around as needed within their school once the resources are delivered to meet the current attainment of learners. 

Yes, you can order maths resources from one supplier for the different phases of learning. 

All the approved suppliers are providing PLD alongside the resources they are offering. To find out what PLD is available please refer to the A3 Resource Summary for each suppler. This is available to view and/or download on Tāhūrangi. 

There will be online PLD resources, once developed, available on the Ministry’s Tāhūrangi website for all schools and kura to use.  

The Ministry-funded PLD and resources to support the Government education initiatives are for state and state-integrated schools and kura, and do not extend to Independent Schools and Charter Schools. There will be online resources, once developed, available on Tāhūrangi for all schools and kura to use.   

There will be continued resources and funding to support the implementation of the revised maths curriculum, until it is fully implemented and the support is no longer required.

Yes, we will confirm 2026 resources with your school in term 3 2025. 

Currently, the Ministry-funded resources being provided to schools are to support the implementation of the revised maths curriculum for Years 0-8, so these resources are not being funded for Years 9 - 13. However schools can contact the suppliers directly if they wish to purchase the same resources.

The ordering process will be done on-line, with each application pre-populated with the school’s roll data for each year group to determine the quantity of resources to be provided.  Schools will select the supplier that best suits their needs for each phase of learning, and place their order. The Ministry will pay the cost of supplying the resources, based on the school’s roll data.    

Yes, schools can use any resources they choose; however, the Ministry-funding will be for the packages offered by the approved suppliers. Any resources that the school wishes to purchase outside of packages from the endorsed suppliers, will need be covered by the school’s own funds.  

No, the Ministry cannot refund schools for resources they have already purchased, however, if your school is already using resources from one of the approved providers, this will be a good opportunity to update what you already have.

All schools will be funded according to their roll numbers. Schools are able to purchase additional resources at their discretion by contacting the suppliers directly, however this will not be funded as part of the structured approaches to maths implementation so will be at the school’s own cost.
