The Ready to Read Phonics Plus video guides showcase how the Ready to Read Phonics Plus resources are intended for use in the classroom.

 

Video content

The Overview video introduces the whole series and explains the scope and sequence it follows.

The Kākano video introduces the three Kākano subgroups, the accompanying sound cards, and models how you might use the books.

The Tupu 1 covers short vowel sounds, double letters, as well as initial and end blends. Tupu phonics cards are introduced, and possible uses are modelled.

Tupu 2 introduces long vowel sounds, including split digraphs and vowel teams. Te reo Māori Kete cards are introduced.

In Māhuri, additional long vowel sounds are introduced.

Blending and articulation covers how to blend and articulate sounds. Both Kākano sound and Tupu phonics cards are modelled.

Rākau covers syllable types as well as suffixes and prefixes.
