New ERO report on relationships and sexuality education (RSE) released
10 December 2024
The Education Review Office (ERO) has published a new research report Let’s talk about it: review of relationships and sexuality education (RSE).
This report was commissioned by Education Minister Erica Stanford earlier this year to identify options for improving the way RSE is taught.
The report looks specifically at how well RSE currently meets the needs of students, expectations of parents, and capabilities of schools. There are 21 findings and three overarching recommendations from ERO for improving RSE and support the impact it needs to have.

The Ministry of Education welcomes the findings of this report and will use its recommendations to inform the update of relationships and sexuality education (RSE) through the national curriculum work programme.
